Tea tree oil has amazing healing powers. This essential oil has been used for soothing skin and as a remedy for wounds and cuts by the aboriginal tribes in Australia for thousands of years. Apart from this, it is effectively being used to treat insect bites, athlete’s foot, blisters, burns, abscess, oily skin, acne, rashes, spots and warts. It is found to be effective to cure diaper rash, sunburns, smelly feet and problems related to toenail infections. The aboriginals have known this secret to healthy and glowing skin for centuries.
When tea tree leaves are crushed, it produces an essential oil with components in varying amounts. This oil is used extensively in aromatherapy and is so potent that it can be diluted up to many times its volume without losing its original effectiveness. Undiluted or not properly mixed with carrier oil, tea tree oil can cause redness, skin irritation, itching and blistering.
Although it appears to be safe for other animals, it is advised not to use tea tree oil on cats.
Tea tree oil should not be internally consumed even in small quantities. It can cause impaired immune function, potential central nervous system depression and diarrhea also excessive sleepiness, drowsiness and confusion.
The tea tree extract in commercial gargles and toothpastes is commonly considered to be acceptable since it’s not supposed to be swallowed. If you choose to try these products, and any other product that has tea tree oil in it, be sure to read all of the instructions and directions before you consume any. Tea tree oil has many benefits that treat not only external conditions, such as problems with the skin and dryness, but also for calming the mind and relaxing you. Thanks for all the great information. Something else that has worked for me, is while I had a horrible sinus infection, I put a couple of drops in my neti pot and it helped a lot.
I don't know this from personal experience, but have read multiple places that tea tree oil is poisonous to some animals and ***should NOT be used on cats.***
It seems to be safe for dogs, however, if you want to rid them of fleas.

When I was young and wilder, ( in my 20's) than I am now, I had my nipples pierced, and used what is known as a barbell adornment. I used tea tree oil as a disinfectant, Not only did it prevent any infections, it also helped heal the skin around the piercing.
I know it is alos been used by and in hospitals as an anti bactiral, against staff incetions, and worked when no other man made disenfectant failed in preventing hte spred among patents.
More recently over a 4 year peroid I have had to undergo eight surgerys, After the first surgery I ended up in intestive care. At which point my barbell pricing had to be removed. When I got home after several days in hospital, I found I could not re inset my barbells due to an infection, I simply used tea tree oil and it cleared up any infection, it also healed the skin making it grow over the piercing hole. I found upon leaving the hospital after surgery number 8 I found I had mager skin problems, my sculp and face, as you can imagine, I became very self conises about the the face part, I have been using tea tree oil, and it is helping to restore my facial skin and sclup back to normal skin.
I have also used it on several surgical scares and it is helping reduce their appearance. So yes Tea tree oil is as I have found a wonderful natural all round excellent treatment over the years.

Great informaiton. Just bought some tea tree essential oil yesterday and mixed a few drops with olive oil for my dry scalp. It's very refreshing and works great. The aroma is very relaxing and soothing.
